چکیده

This paper proposes miniature radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna designed to operate on metallic objects, in the UHF frequency range (915MHz), without significantly degrading its read range. The antenna structure is composed of two parts: Part 1 comprises two square patches electrically connected to the ground plane through vias while Part 2 is an unconnected inter-layer consisting of two square complementary split ring resonators to allow for capacitive reactance increase. Consequently, its self-resonant frequency will shift towards low frequency, which theoretically allows shrinking RFID tag antenna into smaller size. The antenna was simulated and measured to verify its conjugate matching with chip impedance. The results of experimental tests show that the proposed RFID tag offers a maximum read range of 0.82 m when placed on a metallic object. The tag’s overall size is 36.7× 18.1× 3.165mm3. Both simulation and measurement results are provided to validate the design.

Complementary Split Ring Resonator Effects on Radiation Pattern Reconfigurable Circular Microstrip Antennas

In this study, a radiation pattern reconfigurable microstrip antenna is designed and fabricated. The antenna’s radiation pattern is directed in 9 different angles by employing a radiating patch and embedding complementary split ring resonators (CSRR) on the ground plane. The radiating patch is of circular shape, while for CSRR elements both circular and rectangular shapes are investigated. The ...

Miniaturized High-Pass Filter Based on Balanced Composite Right-Left Handed Transmission Line Using Meander Spiral Complementary Split Ring Resonators

In this paper, a compact high-pass filter (HPF) with a sharp rejection response based on the balanced composite right-left handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) concept is proposed. A series LC resonator using an interdigital capacitor and meander lines is designed. Also, a meander spiral complementary split ring resonator (MSCSRR) is used to realize the parallel LC resonator. The high-pass filt...

A Srr-based near Field Rfid Antenna

In this paper, a compact near field reader antenna is proposed for ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) applications. The antenna structure is composed of two split-ring-resonators (SRRs) and miniaturized to a special small size of 21 ∗ 21 ∗ 1.6mm3 for mobile RFID application. The measured bandwidth of antenna prototype is 13 MHz (914.5–927.5MHz) with reflection coef...

Analysis and Design of an Uhf Rfid Metal Tag Using Magnetic Composite Material as Substrate

Using magnetic composite material as the substrate for RFID metal tag has several advantages over conventional metal tags, such as flexibility and miniaturized size. In this paper, the radiation intensity contributed by a half-wave dipole is derived based on the result of an ideal Hertzian dipole, which leads to a simple relation for thin substrate. Later on, the material constants of two mater...
